What is Shamanic Healing?
Shamanic Healing is possibly the oldest spiritual practice dating back about
400 000.
Contemporary shamanism blends
ancient and modern wisdom, using the shamanic core techniques of our ancestors .
Shamanism teaches that everything in existence has a spirit,
is alive and that we are connected to all life through the web - all
disease, whether emotional or physical begins as an imbalance in the
spiritual realm.
The shaman is a healer who travels to the realm of spirit to ask for guidance and knowledge on behalf of her client , so as to find out the answers to their life questions or to ask for help with their healing.
In modern speak a shaman will by pass the conscious state of a persons mind and work directly with the unconscious. in a conscious state , we heal with the use of words- so talk through our problems or use positive affirmations to change our ways of behaviour or thinking.
The unconscious mind works with symbolism- and so a shaman will use visualisations and meditations to help a client to heal at a deep level.
How?
This may involve clearing spiritual or energetic blockages from the
body; bringing back information or guidance from the spiritual realm;
recovering soul parts or power that has been lost. Each session is
different as the shaman is guided by the clients needs and the information from her spirit ally as to which healing techniques she will need to carry out.
A client may be guided to do this work for themselves , or the practitioner will do it on their behalf.
Shamans will use tools to aid this work . Some include music, voice, drum , rattle, herbs, feathers , crystals or runes.
what happens during a shamanic healing session?
When a client contacts me, I ask for some information from them, and ask them what they would like from the healing session
Before the client arrives I will spend time meditating on what the client will need, and gain information from my spirit allies.
On the day, the client will tell me more about themselves and why they have come- this may be because of a health issue, and emotional situation, the death of someone close to them, or because they are struggling ion their life and need direction.
The client then lies down and a blanket placed on them for warmth.
Music is played and herbs or aromatherapy oils burnt.
The session might involve crystals/herbs.flowers or feathers being placed on the client.
If the client agrees I may sometimes talk the client through a visualisation or journey for the client to retrieve their own answers or To find aspects of themselves which are lost.
After the client is offered a drink and we discuss how the session went for them,.

Soul & Power Retrieval
Power loss may cause depression, chronic illness or a series of
misfortunes and the shamanic healer will journey to restore the client's
lost power.
This may have occurred as a result of physical, spiritual or emotional
trauma such as an accident, surgery, abuse, war, or surviving a natural
disaster.
During such experiences a fragment of ourselves may flee, a part of our soul may splinter and we go into "survival mode" >In
most cases the soul fragment will return when we feel more balanced and have had time to process the event. Sometimes
however, the soul part may become "stuck" or lost which may initially
leave us feeling as if we are not really present in our lives but simply
observing. This will leave us finding decisive making hard, it may be hard for us to hold down a job, or we may struggle with ourselves or with others.
If ignored, this situation may ultimately result in
some of the more serious conditions previously mentioned.
In these cases
a shamanic practitioner would journey to the Spirit World on behalf of
the client and with the help of their Spirit Teachers and Allies, would find the lost soul parts and would persuade them to return back to the client.
In the
Spirit World there is not such thing as linear time and often the soul
part is found in a situation that represents (symbolically or literally)
what the client was experiencing when the soul part left. If a soul
fragment is caught up in an event then on an energetic level it is if
that event is still happening to the client, they are frozen in time and
unable to move on. Returning the soul part to the client is the will aid healing and bring a feeling of wholeness that has been missing.
